Disrupt Research on Kansu IV - Contract E8A-B6D

South Sector, Kansu System, Kansu IV

House Davion is using this research facility on the edge of their own territory to develop new weapons. The Maskirovka has some inside information that the scientists working there have become nervous about what they're creating. This is your chance to make those concerns grow into something the Federation can't ignore. Infiltrate the research station, capture the research logs, and broadcast them on local frequency so that the Federation troops guarding the facility know what's going on.

Special Rules

The one of the Contractor's units can Extract the Research logs from the Archives by spending a Combat action while adjacent to it. Once Extracted, the Logs are invulnerable and of no significant mass. A unit carrying the Logs can spend a combat action adjacent to the Transmitter to Load them into the Transmitter. Once Loaded, the Logs will take 3 turns to Transmit. If, during the 3 End Phases after the Logs are Loaded, the OpFor manages to have one of their units adjacent to the Transmitter while the Contractor has no units adjacent to the Transmitter, the OpFor disrupts the Transmittion. If not, the Transmittion is completed successfully.

Primary Objective:

Battlefield Intelligence

Terrain Survey: The map is mostly (>50%) open ground. All ground is covered by Kansu Vegetation. On open ground, Kansu Vegetation is not thick enough to change movement speed, but if a ranged attack misses a Ground Unit in Kansu Vegetation by one, the Kansu Vegetation is hit instead and detonates. The targeted unit takes one point of heat if it is a heat tracking unit, or 1 point of damage if it is not. If the targeted unit is in woods, it takes 2 points instead.

Terrain Features: There are a typical number of hills and woods around the map, none within 6in of the Archive or the transmitter.

Atmospheric Density: High

Darkness: This planet has a full Day/Night cycle, so the contracting player may decide to attack at night if they wish (see rules on PDF page 62).

Electromagnetic Interference: No EMI expected.

Gravity: The gravity is close enough to 1.0 g that there is no noticeable difference.

Temperature: This planet is extremely cold. The rules for extreme cold on page 62 are in effect.

Wind: No adverse weather expected.

Structural Survey: The Archive Structure is Heavy with 10 CP, and the Transmitter Structure is Heavy with 10 CP. There are 4 additional structures that are Medium with 5 CP around each of those two objective structures (for 8 additional structures and 10 structures total). Buildings may not be within 2in of each other, nor more than 6in away from the nearest building.

Deployment Instructions

The Contractor places two meaningless objective markers on the map, at least 8in from the edges and 16in from each other. The OpFor player designates one of them to them to be the Archive and the other to be the Transmitter. The Contractor picks the edge that they will walk in on; it may not be the edge closest to an objective. The OpFor walks in on the opposite edge.
